Auburn's course management system (CMS) Canvas allows students to access materials, assignments, and each other in interesting ways online. This helps my Comp I class discuss literacy, technology, and writing.

At Auburn University, Composition I is the first in a sequence of introductory writing courses that focus on reading, analyzing, writing, and researching. In my Composition I classroom, my students learn to analyze the rhetorical features of past and current conversations on literacy, technology, and community, as well as the many varied interactions of these texts and their arguments. Not only do my students analyze the rhetorical features of texts they read, they also analyze their own writing, as well as the writing of their classmates. I seek to help students understand writing as a social, collaborative, networked process that occurs across genres, mediums, and modalities.
