About Heather

I am a PhD candidate in the Writing, Rhetoric, and American Cultures department at Michigan State University, an instructor for the Professional Writing Program at MSU, and a ux designer/project manager for the Writing, Information, and Digital Experience (WIDE) Research Center. Inside the university, I research design, visual/digital rhetoric, and social justice in technical communication. Outside the university, I advocate for users by designing documents, graphics, and managing ux projects.

When I'm not working, you can find me staring at one screen or another. I like tweeting the gifs I make, obsessively following pop culture, and watching Netflix with my cats.

About this site

These portfolios serve as a curation of my academic and professional work. Because my research, teaching, and design work are so intertwined, the pieces across these portfolios overlap in ways that are productive. I encourage you to browse both portfolios. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you have. I would love to hear from you, especially on Twitter.
